Technical and safety
- Material Composition: Highest-quality natural slate with excellent strength and extremely low porosity.
- Styles Available:
- Sized Slates: Hand-dressed to nominal length and width, ranging from 24" x 12" (610 x 305mm) to 12" x 6" (305 x 152mm).
- Traditional Randoms: Slightly heavier, with lengths varying in 2" increments from 24" to 10" (610mm to 254mm) and random widths.
- Peggies/Scantle Slate: Made in sizes from 12" to 6" long (305mm to 152mm) with random widths, characteristic of West Cornwall architecture.
- Installation: Should be laid in accordance with BS 5534 Part 1 rev 1990 or traditional methods, ensuring longevity and performance.
- Maintenance: Due to the material's longevity, repairs are generally necessitated by failure of roof timbers or nails; Delabole Slate is often suitable for re-fitting.
